The counselling process will be conducted for around 1.10 lakh MBBS seats across 710 medical colleges in India
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has released the tentative schedule for NEET UG counselling 2024, which will begin on August 14 for MBBS, BDS, and BSc (Nursing) candidates.
The Round 1 registration process will start on August 14 and end on August 21, 2024. The choice filling and locking will be permitted from August 16-20, the seat allotment processing will be conducted from August 21-22, and the results will be announced on August 23. The reporting and joining of college students is scheduled to occur between August 24-29, while verification for candidates joining after the first allotment will be from August 30-31.
The MCC will conduct the NEET counselling 2024 for the 15 per cent All India Quota seats in government medical colleges and 100 per cent of Aligarh Muslim University, Banaras Hindu University, Jamia Millia Islamia, and ESIC Dental College and Hospital seats. There will be three rounds of MCC NEET UG counselling and one stray vacancy round.
Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Anupriya Patel has stated in the Rajya Sabha that there would be altogether four rounds of counselling for NEET UG according to the Supreme Court order. The fourth round of counselling is expected to end on October 24.
The counselling process will be conducted for around 1.10 lakh MBBS seats across 710 medical colleges in India. Additionally, there are 21,000 BDS seats and seats for Ayush and nursing courses.
According to government data, the number of medical colleges has gone up by 88 per cent from 387 before 2014 to 731 in 2024. The number of MBBS seats has seen an increase of 118 per cent from 51,348 before 2014 to 1,12,112 in 2024.
