NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam Update: 3.2 Lakh Students Request Centre Change, NTA Starts Fee Refund Process

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially begun the fee refund process for candidates affected by the cancellation of the NEET UG 2026 examination held on May 3. At the same time, nearly 3.2 lakh candidates have requested a change in examination centres for the upcoming re-exam scheduled on June 21, 2026.

The re-examination was announced after allegations of a paper leak and irregularities surfaced across multiple states, leading to the cancellation of the original exam. More than 22 lakh students had appeared for the examination across India and abroad.

NTA Fee Refund Process Begins

The NTA has activated a dedicated refund portal on the official NEET website. Candidates who appeared for the cancelled May 3 exam can now submit their bank account details to claim the refund of their examination fee.

3.2 Lakh Students Seek Exam Centre Change

After NTA allowed candidates to modify their exam city preferences, around 3.2 lakh aspirants applied for a change in exam centres for the June re-test. Students were allowed to update their preferred cities between May 15 and May 21.

Government Assures Error-Free Examination

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan stated that the government is taking strict measures to ensure a completely transparent and malpractice-free examination process this time. Enhanced security and monitoring systems are being implemented nationwide.
